The season gets underway January 5th with the inaugural running of the twin Winter Heat 25's at New Smyrna Speedway, 2 weeks later on January 19th, the Rolex 24 (lap) will be held at the Daytona International Speedway RC. The 4th race of the season will be the traditional Daytona Beach 100 at the Daytona Beach Road Course, which takes place on February 2nd. On February 16th the 2020 season will conclude at the Daytona International Speedway with the 16th annual running of the Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150, which will award double points. Complete 2019 SSRA N3OCS Championship Top 10 Rundown & Other News!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2019, 11:17 pm.....

With the 15th anniversary 2019 SSRA N3OCS season now in the record books, here is a rundown of the top 10 in the final 2019 SSRA N3OCS drivers standings, some info about their seasons, their prospects for 2020 and where possible some comments from the drivers on their seasons.

2019 SSRA N3OCS Champion, 2019 Triple Crown 500 Champion & 2019 Bud Pole Champion- “Big” Gregg Rauscher- Hot off his 6th straight championship in 2018, Gregg Rauscher entered the 2019 season as the odds on favorite to claim his 7th championship. After starting the season off with a bang by winning at the Daytona Beach Road Course, Rauscher never relinquished the points lead enroute to record setting season and his 7th championship. He won 15 of the 22 races, which beat the previous record of 13 wins in a season set by Joshua Stephens in 2011. In the 7 races he didn't win Rauscher had two 2nds, a 3rd, three 4ths and a 5th place finish. The Port Colborne, On driver also won the Bud Pole championship for the 4th time in his career by earning 10 poles and added his 3rd Triple Crown 500 championship as well. Another impressive stat is that Rauscher won every race held on a track less than 1 mile in 2019. Despite all his success this past season there were a few struggles along the way including once again being unable to win at Daytona International Speedway (Rauscher is 0 for 15 at DIS) and being unable to win on a road course for the 3rd straight season, although he did finish a fighting 2nd at the Daytona RC to Matt Yeager.

As expected Gregg Rauscher will be back for his 16th season in 2020 and while he will likely continue to pad his impressive career stats (he is the all-time leader in wins, top 5's and starts), but winning an 8th straight title might not be a given, as the abbreviated 5 race mini season will feature only 2 short track races and the only double points race will be at DIS a track that he's never won at.

In his own words, "Being the last season of the traditional SSRA format, I put more effort into 2019 than probably any other season. We won every short track race which isn't an easy feat considering the competition and winning at 141 for the first time meant a lot. But the road courses were a let down. At the Daytona RC I needed 5 more laps to close the deal, at Long Beach & Brands Hatch I needed Matt and Chris to have bad luck, which didn't happen and at Heartland I was really off the pace. The biggest let down though was at Daytona. I really thought we'd be a factor for the win but once again we came up short. Overall though, I don't think I could have asked for a much better season and I had a great time at all the races. I want to thank all my competitors for providing such great competition, especially Matt and Steven, you guys make me a better driver. Merry Christmas & God Bless. See you in the new year."

Runner-Up- Steven Hyde- After being the championship runner-up the past 5 seasons Steven Hyde was hoping to win his first title in 2019. However despite once again finishing 2nd in the standings, overall Hyde's 2019 season was disappointment, at least by his standards. His only win of the season came at Pocono in June, he did not win a pole and the 109 point deficit to the champion was the most points he finished out of the championship lead since 2012. Despite having his share of struggles Hyde still recorded a healthy tally of 14 top 5 finishes which included five runner-up finishes to go along with the Pocono win. As in previous season's the #92 Chevrolet struggled the most on the road courses, with a 6th place at the Daytona RC being Hyde's best showing on the "twisties".

Returning for his 12th season in 2020, Steven Hyde will undoubtedly be in the thick of the championship fight, but it remains to be seen if he can up his game to new levels and whether or not the new SSRA format will benefit him. Regardless, a fighting runner-up finish in the season finale at Stockton shows he still has the pace to run up front in 2020.

In His Own Words, "It was a good season but certainly not my best. I would've liked to gain a pole and a couple more wins along the way. I will be looking forward to the winter heat series."

3rd Place- "Downtown" David Williard- The third most experienced driver in SSRA N3OCS history arguably had his best ever season. Although he didn't win a race in 2020, the British Columbia racer was as high as 2nd in the standings early in the season and wound up only 14 points out of 2nd at season's end. Williard scored 6 second place finishes and a total of 13 top 5 finishes in an ultra consistent season where his worst result was 7th. As in past seasons, Williard's best results came on the short tracks and biggest struggles came on the big tracks where he finished no better than 5th on any of the ovals 1 mile or larger.

David Williard announced that he will likely not be competing full-time in 2020, but anytime he decides to show up at the track expect him to be a solid top 5 finisher if not a contender for the win, especially if it's on a short track.

In His Own Words, "This season was pretty good for me. I'm pleased with the consistency I had and to be honest with just a bit more luck I could have been 2nd with 2 or 3 wins. I decided in the summer that 2019 will be my last season, at least for now. I want to thank Gregg for running the series and everyone who's helped me over the years, especially my teammates at Pr1mo Racing. I love you all thanks for the 15 years of memories."

4th Place- "Chicago" Chris Primerano- After a career season in 2018 in which Chris Primerano finished 3rd in points and collected 14 top 5 finishes, 2019 might be considered a bit of a disappointment for the 14 year veteran, but the senior member of Pr1mo Racing still had a very respectable season. Primerano ended the 2019 season with a solid 4th place points standing on the strength of 9 top 5 finishes including a win at Brands Hatch in the second last race of the season. That win, which came from the pole position, put him in an exclusive group with Gregg Rauscher and Matt Yeager as the only drivers to win both a pole and a race in 2019. One of the SSRA's best road racers "Chicago" finished each of 4 road course races on the podium and also scored podium finishes on the sands of Daytona Beach and on the dirt at Cayuga County.

Chris Primerano will be back again for his 15th season in 2020. It will be interesting to see if the SSRA's new format will benefit him, but don't be surprised if he picks up a win and finishes solidly in the top 3 in the standings.

In His Own Words, "2019 was an up and down season for me. I was fast enough to have won a few races but there were too many mid pack finishes, so I'd say 4th is pretty representative of my season. Cayuga (County finishing 2nd) and of course winning both the race and the pole at Brands Hatch were my proudest moments. I hope with some luck to be a championship contender in 2020."

5th Place- Todd "Primo" Primerano- The third member of the Pr1mo Racing team to finish in the top 5 in points, 2012 roty Todd Primerano finished 5th for the second straight year. Having arguably the most inconsistent season of any driver in 2019, "Primo" had his share of solid runs including winning the pole at 141 speedway, finishing 2nd in the series' return to Lake Erie Speedway and scoring a total of 9 top 5 finishes of which 6 were on the podium, but on the flip-side he had many finishes at the bottom of the top 10, often the result of crashes and struggled mightily on the speedways and road courses. He only scored one top 5 finish on a speedway or road course in 2019, which was a 4th place at Darlington.

Returning full-time again in 2020 Todd Primerano will be hoping for a breakthrough season. If he can find more speed and consistency on the road courses and speedways Primerano definitely has the ability to be a serious top 3 points contender, if not it could be another year of finishing in the middle of the top 10 in the standings.

In His Own Words- "This season was a bit of a letdown for me. Not winning a race sucks and I struggled a bit at some tracks, especially when I was rushing but it could have been worse. I want to thank my teammates for all their help this year and I look forward to running better in 2020.

6th Place- Eddie Sedlacek- One of the SSRA's founding drivers Eddie Sedlacek decided to run his first full season in 2019 after years of running limited schedules and sometimes sitting out entire seasons. Although rarely among the fastest cars Sedlacek used consistency to his advantage, moving ahead of Randy Cowen late in the season to finish 6th. Despite only scoring 3 top 5 finishes (a trio of 5th place efforts), he was able to finish every race on the lead lap and won all but one of his individual races.

Although his plans are unknown at this point, if he shows up expect Eddie Sedlacek to have another consistent season. However, if he expects to contend for wins he'll need to improve his set-ups.

In His Own Words- "Thank you for running the league. I had a lot of fun this past season and I'm fairly pleased to be 6th place. I wish i could have been quicker but I never really had time to tinker with setups."

7th Place- "Rocket" Randy Cowen- Having won 3 races in 2018, Randy Cowen was hoping for even better 2019, but it's safe to say this season was disappointment for the Golden State racer. Cowen's early season was fairly strong, producing consistent results, including at 3rd place at DIS (where he is a 4-time race winner), as well as a pole position at North Wilkesboro. After that however, his season was pretty disappointing, producing only 3 other top 5 finishes and having multiple back of the pack finishes due to crashes and start and parks. Cowen ended the season with five top 5 finishes, with his best result being the 3rd place run at Daytona.

2008 IDEAL ROTY Randy Cowen will return for another full campaign in 2020 as he hopes to return to victory lane and become the N3OCS's oldest race winner in the process. Probably the driver who will benefit most from the abbreviated schedule  that makes up the 2020 season, don't be surprised to see Cowen get a win and finish solidly in the top 5 in points.

In His Own Words- "The season was disappointing. It was embarrassing. I have to do better and I can do better."

8th Place- Ghostface Racer- Originally planning to run only the 3 Triple Crown 500 races, Ghostface Racer ended up not only running those events (and coming up only 2 points shy of the triple crown title), but he also ran 6 of the final 7 races of the season enroute to 8th place in the championship, which is his 15th straight top 10 points finish. The only driver in the top 10 to not run a full season, Ghost picked up a victory at Springfield in August and throughout the course of his season, only had one finish out of the top 5, a 6th place at Gold Pan. Of his 8 top 5 finishes only 2 weren't on the podium.

After running a limited schedule the past 2 seasons, Ghostface Racer will likely run all 5 races in 2020. Given his performance the past few seasons, expect him to be a championship contender, but it remains to be seen if he can regularly visit victory lane and challenge perennial favorites like Gregg Rauscher and Steven Hyde.

In His Own Words- "I'd say this was my best season ever. I came oh-so-close to winning the Triple Crown which made me happy and and frustrated me at the same time. Because I wanted to keep my top 10 points streak intact I decided to run more races, which worked out good winning at the IL State Fair and having a lot of other good runs. I'm going to run all the races next year with the goal of winning the championship. Merry Christmas to everyone in the SSRA"

9th Place- Dusterman- The winner of this year's unofficial most improved driver Dusterman scored what is the perhaps the biggest upset ever when he won this year's Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 at Daytona International Speedway. Although that was by the far the biggest highlight of his season, Dusterman was also strong on the dirt tracks, finishing 4th at both Eldora and Brewerton. Throughout the course of the season the 2014 roty scored three top 5 finishes, which is a new career high for him. Despite having more success than in previous seasons Dusterman also had 5 dnf's and multiple races where he was off the pace, often the result of a lack of practice time.

Dusterman has stated he is looking forward to running a full SSRA N3OCS schedule for the 7th straight season. The SSRA's new "winter heat" format could benefit him perhaps more than any other competitor, especially considering he is the defending DIS winner and that race awards double points. With that factored in don't be surprised to see Dusterman contend for his first top 5 points finish.

10th Place- Roger Nebelsick- After running only 3 races in 2018, Roger Nebelsick returned to a full schedule for the third time in his career, in 2019. Although Nebelsick racked up a career best 6 top 5 finishes throughout the season, he led the series with 8 start and parks. That coupled with a dq in the 2nd Jukasa race prevented the 2013 IDEAL ROTY from contending for a top 5 points finish despite showing he has the speed to regularly finish in the top 5. Nebelsick's best results of the year were a pair of 3rd place finishes, coming early in the season at Long Beach and Eldora.

Tentatively scheduled to run all 5 races in 2020, Roger Nebelsick will be a serious contender for a top 5 points finish and possibly even his first career win if he has the time to put a serious effort into all the events. If not it could be another trying season at the bottom of the top 10.

The Rest Of The Field- Missing out on a top 10 points finish by only 11 markers, 11th place the "Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager arguably had the second strongest season of any driver in 2019. Winning at both Long Beach and the Daytona RC, as well as scoring 9 pole positions (bringing his career total to 54) Yeager finished in the top 5 in seven of his ten starts. Former roty Tony Plumadore Jr. ran 14 races, producing 4 top 5 finishes including a 2nd place at Eldora in April and a 3rd place at Stockton to close out the year, to earn the 12th spot. 13th place went to Todd Primerano's father Jeff Primerano, who returned to SSRA competition after a 4 year hiatus and showed no signs of rust as he scored 5 top 5 finishes (in the 7 starts he made) including his first career win at Heartland Park Topeka. Canadian driver Jeff Hill finished 14th in points making 4 starts highlighted by a 2nd place finish in the Gray Tools 50 at Jukasa. Newcomer Jason Ross ran the first 4 races of the season scoring a best finish of 9th at North Wilkesboro enroute to 15th in the standings. Finishing in 16th and last place was Aidan Nebelsick, who ran 3 races as a teammate to his dad Roger, with a best result of 11th in the IDEAL Brake Parts 50 at Jukasa.

In 2019 there were 5 different pole winners, 7 different race winners and 14 of the 16 drivers who have competed this season had at least one top 5 finish. 9 drivers have started all 22 races held during the 15th anniversary SSRA N3OCS schedule.

This write-up puts an official wrap on the 2019 season. Congratulations to the top 10 points finishers and a big thanks to all 16 drivers that competed throughout the course of the season. In the next couple weeks, I hope to update the all-time career stats page and also post the schedule for the 2020 season, which will take place in January and February. So be on the look out for that. Thanks again for everybody's support.

Rauscher Wins @ Stockton After Spirited Battle With Hyde & Claims 7th Championship, Need Everybody's Quotes On Their 2019 Season!

Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, 2:08 am.....

The 15th anniversary 2019 SSRA N3OCS season concluded on November 3rd with the running of the California 500 at the Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton California. "Big" Gregg Rauscher toured the 1/4 mile bullring at a speed of 66.055 mph to earn his 10th pole of the season, which earned him the season long Bud Pole championship over the "Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager who won 9 poles in 2019 (despite running a limited schedule). Todd "Primo" Primerano qualified second.

Once pole sitter Rauscher took the green flag he officially locked up his 7th straight SSRA N3OCS championship. While clinching the title at Stockton was all but a formality for Rauscher, the race itself was an epic battle. Rauscher took the lead early on over Todd Primerano, with Steven Hyde occupying 3rd place close behind. Just past the 1/4 point of the race Rauscher sustained front end damage after getting caught up in a chain reaction pile-up, which allowed Primerano and Hyde to close in. Rauscher's crew made makeshift repairs during the first scheduled pit stop and the Canadian driver was able to stay out front, until the second (and final round) of pit stops when Rauscher's crew decided to properly repair the earlier damage, which cost him several extra seconds and the race lead. Primerano took the lead until two lap cars tangled and Primerano got collected breaking a wheel in the process. The subsequent pit stop for repairs dropped him well back in the running order. That left Steven Hyde out front with a hard charging Gregg Rauscher (despite a quick spin shortly after Primerano's crash) moving up to 2nd. Both drivers were very evenly matched, but Rauscher had better luck getting through lap traffic which allowed him to take lead back with just over 50 laps to go, The newly crowned champion was able to pull away slightly in the closing laps and earn his 15th win of the season by only 2.9 seconds over his longtime rival Hyde. "This was one of the toughest SSRA races I've ever ran. These 500 lappers are all about minimizing and repairing damage. It's like a 24 hour race, you know will have problems, it's just a matter of how many incidents you can avoid and when you can't (avoid the incidents) how fast you can fix the car. My crew won me the race today by repairing the damage over the 2 pit stops. If we would have fixed it all at once, those extra 10 or 12 seconds would have cost me the win. Steven and Todd were really tough and we all had our problems, the lap cars were brutal, but things just worked out for us.", said Rauscher in victory lane. Well back of the top 2 finishers Tony Plumadore Jr. had his best race since Eldora in April, finishing 3rd. Ghostface Racer finished 4th after a race long battle with eventual 5th place finisher "Downtown" David Williard, who was the highest finishing Pr1mo Racing driver.

Official results from Stockton and final 2019 points standings have been posted on the SSRA website. In the next week or so I will be doing a write-up profiling the top 10 points finishers season's. As part of that write-up I would like some thoughts and quotes from each driver in the top 10. So please email me those comments as soon as possible. To give everybody a heads up, that while the official 2020 schedule won't be released until next month, I can confirm that the first season under the new format will consist of 5 races taking place in January and February. I want to take some time to thank everyone that competed in 2019 for their time and effort. It really means a lot that we can end this era of the SSRA with the best car counts since the 2015 season!

Enjoy the off-season,

Gregg :-)

Rauscher Dominates Super Dirt Week To Extend Points Lead, Chris Primerano Wins From The Pole @ Brands Hatch, Other News Items!

Sunday, October 29th, 2019, 12:59 am.....

On October 5th, the SSRA N3OCS headed to Brewerton Speedway in Central Square, NY for the Sam Zuvik Memorial 50. Points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher toured the 1/3 mile clay oval at a speed of 100.259 to earn the pole position. In the 50 lap feature Rauscher took the lead at the start and was never seriously challenged, as he earned his 13th win of the season by 8 seconds over "Downtown" David Williard. Williard's Pr1mo Racing teammate Todd "Primo" Primerano took third, with Dusterman earning his first top 5 finish since Eldora in April, finishing a solid 4th. Ghostface Racer rounded out the top 5 finishers.

The next night the series headed down the road to the 3/8 mile Cayuga County Fair (Weedsport) Speedway for the 15th annual running of the Cyndi Peck Memorial 50. Rauscher picked up where he left at Brewerton, as he earned his 9th pole position of the season at a speed of 87.782 mph. Rauscher took the lead on the initial green flag and never looked back, beating runner-up "Chicago" Chris Primerano to the checkers by nearly 14 seconds. "Both these races (Brewerton & CCFS) are so important to me, it seems like the past few years we've really hit on the right set-up and I've managed to get into a good rhythm and the results speak for themselves. I'm so happy right now. Sammie, Cyndi I love you both. I'm sure Primerano & Matt will humble me big-time at Brands Hatch, but right now it's time to celebrate!", said Rauscher in a victory lane interview. Ghostface Racer took the final spot on the podium after a hard fought battle with 2nd place points man Steven Hyde and Eddie Sedlacek, who wound up 4th and 5th respectively.

2 weeks later the SSRA crossed the Atlantic and headed to the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent, England. The race weekend turned out to be a hard fought battle between SSRA N3OCS road course standouts "The Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager and "Chicago" Chris Primerano, who was hot off a runner-up effort at CCFS. Primerano toured the 1.198 mile 8 turn road course at a speed of 90.385 mph, besting Yeager by only 1/10 of a mph to earn the pole position. When the race got underway it quickly turned into a battle between Primerano and Yeager as the duo traded the lead. That exciting lead battle continued for much of the race, until "Chicago" took the lead for good with only a few laps remaining and was able to beat Yeager to the checkers by just over 3 seconds. The victory was Primerano's first win of the season and the 5th of his career (all coming on road courses). Despite not having the pace to run with the leaders, Gregg Rauscher ran his fastest race ever at Brands Hatch, finishing 3rd. Roger Nebelsick ended months of frustration with a solid 4th place finish, while Heartland Park winner Jeff Primerano finished 5th.

With only the season finale at Stockton 99 Speedway remaining in the 2019 season, "Big" Gregg Rauscher has all but officially locked up his 7th SSRA N3OCS. Rauscher who has 14 wins on the season and has finished all 21 races in the top 5 leads perennial championship contender Steven Hyde by 100 points. Although Hyde only has one win in 2019 (coming at Pocono) he has had a very solid season, earning four second place finishes and a total of 13 top 5 efforts. Only 5 points further back in 3rd is Pr1mo Racing's "Downtown" David Williard. Despite being winless in 2019, Williard has been a consistent front runner, scoring a dozen top 5 finishes, half of which were 2nd places. Brands Hatch winner "Chicago" Chris Primerano holds onto 4th with 9 top 5 finishes. Todd "Primo" Primerano makes it three Pr1mo Racing drivers in the top 5 as he holds onto 5th, also with 9 top 5 finishes, with a best result of 2nd at Lake Erie Speedway. 6th place belongs to "Rocket" Randy Cowen, tied for 7th are Springfield winner Ghostface Racer and Eddie Sedlacek, Matt Yeager holds onto 9th and Daytona winner Dusterman rounds out the top 10. Although the championship winner is likely decided, every other position up to 11th place in the standings could change hands at Stockton, although Chris Primerano in 4th and Todd Primerano in 5th would need considerable luck to move up in the standings (or considerable bad luck to loose any spots). The Bud Pole championship though is still undecided going into the California 500, as Gregg Rauscher & Matt Yeager both have 9 poles each. No other driver has more than one pole in 2019. Jason Ross leads Aidan Nebelsick by 5 points in the IDEAL ROTY battle, although it remains to be seen if either driver will be racing at Stockton. So far in 2019 there have been 5 different pole winners, 7 different race winners and 14 of the 16 drivers who have competed this season have at least one top 5 finish. 9 drivers have started all 18 races.

As indicated above, only the California 500 at Stockton 99 Speedway remains in the 2019 SSRA N3OCS season. Likely champion Gregg Rauscher is a pre-race favorite, having won the past 3 races at the Stockton, California bullring, while Steven Hyde is the only other active driver to have won there and will look to end his season on a high note and earn his second win of 2019. With over a dozen entries expected, there is a number of other drivers that could seriously contend for the win including teammates David Williard and Todd Primerano and "Rocket" Randy Cowen, all who have yet to visit victory lane in 2019.

Official results and points standings from Brands Hatch, as well as Stockton 99 settings have been posted on the SSRA website. Results from the California 500 at Stockton 99 Speedway are due this Sunday night (November 3rd) at midnight. In other news, later this week I'm hoping to post the final 2 driver profiles in the SSRA N3OCS' top 15 (technically top 16 because of a tie for 15th) all-time winningest drivers series, so be on the lookout for that. Also, after lots of thought and some conversations with different competitors I have decided there will be an abbreviated 2020 season. Although details are yet to be finalized, the season will likely feature 5 races (all in Florida), starting in early January and ending with the Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 at DIS in mid February. Future seasons (i.e. 2021, 2022 etc.) will feature between 8-10 races and will take place from December to February. If anybody has any input or questions on this new format please email me

As we prepare to conclude the SSRA N3OCS' 15th season (and the traditional 22 race, 10 month long format that goes with it) at Stockton 99 Speedway this Sunday, I want to take a moment to thank everyone that has raced in the league during the past 15 years, especially the diehard N3'ers that are still racing after all these years. You all have not only been great competitors, but great friends as well. You guys (and gals) are the best, thank you for all the sacrifices you have made in your every day lives to run races over the years. Good luck at Stockton!

Thanks and God Bless,

Gregg :-)

Jeff Primerano Scores First Ever Win @ Topeka, Ghostface Wins Springfield, Rauscher Pads Points Lead With Darlington & Gold Pan Wins & Other News!

Saturday, September 28th, 2019, 2:07 am.....

On August 4th, the SSRA N3OCS returned to Heartland Park Topeka after a 13 year absence. Matt Yeager toured the 2.1 mile, 14 turn road course at a speed of 90.972 mph, earning his 7th pole position of the season. Yeager took the early lead in the Heartland Tailgate 25, with 2nd place starter "Chicago" Chris Primerano close behind. Meanwhile, Chris' brother Jeff Primerano was charging towards the front. In the mid stages of the race Jeff took 2nd place after Chris had an incident with lap traffic and a couple laps later he took the lead from Yeager and never looked back. Jeff Primerano scored his first career win by 6.5 seconds over pole sitter Matt Yeager. Jeff Primerano who is the younger brother of SSRA veteran Chris Primerano and the father of Todd Primerano, returned to competition after a 3 year absence and was making his 85th career start. "Chris gave me this set-up and we all practiced a lot. I figured I could be a solid top 5 guy, but everything just worked out and I couldn't be happier. I want to thank my teammates, especially my big brother for this victory", said Primerano in victory lane. Chris Primerano held on for third, with fellow Pr1mo Racing entrant "Downtown" David Williard coming home 4th. Points leader Gregg Rauscher finished 5th, his worst finish of the season.

2 weeks later the series headed to the Illinois State Fairgrounds dirt mile for the Bettenhausen 100. In a rare dirt appearance the "Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager earned another pole position at a speed of 120.008 mph. After leading the opening laps, Yeager started backing up as Ghostface Racer took the lead pursued closely by points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher and championship contender Steven Hyde. After pit stops Ghostface was able to pull away slightly and at the checkers claimed his 4th career (and his 3rd win at Springfield) win by just under 6 seconds over Rauscher. 3 seconds further back Steven Hyde finished a fighting 3rd, with "Rocket" Randy Cowen a solid 4th and David Williard finishing 5th.

On Labor Day Sunday, the SSRA tackled the 15th annual Southern 200 at Darlington Raceway. In qualifying Matt Yeager continued his dominance of qualifying winning his 9th pole of the season and 55th of his career (first all-time) with a fast lap of 172.966 around the 1.366 mile egg shaped oval. When the green flag flew Yeager took the early lead until lap 44 when contact with a lap car ended his day, handing the lead to Steven Hyde. 3-time Darlington winner Hyde stayed up front for much of the race pursued closely by Gregg Rauscher, but a miscue by Hyde in the closing laps allowed Rauscher to get by. Hyde did all he could to retake the lead, but ran out of laps as Rauscher scored his 11th win of 2019 by only half a second over Hyde. Ghostface Racer backed up his Springfield win with a solid 3rd place run, Todd "Primo" Primerano rebounded from 2 bad races with a 4th place effort and Randy Cowen scored his second straight top 5, crossing the line in 5th.

The second and final Canadian stop of the 2019 season took place at Gold Pan Speedway in Quesnel, BC on September 15th. With the "Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager not entered in the Rocky Mountain 150, it allowed series points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher to claim his 7th pole of the season at a speed of 75.231 mph. When the green flag flew, Rauscher took the lead as drivers like Dusterman and Randy Cowen who qualified well but didn't have good race set-ups fell back, allowing teammates "Downtown" David Williard and defending race winner Todd "Primo" Primerano tried to challenge Rauscher for the lead. Although in the early stages of the race Williard and Primerano were able to keep Rauscher in sight, Rauscher was never seriously challenged for the lead and slowly but surely pulled away to a comfortable lead. Other than during pitstops he never lost the lead and at the checkers took his 70th career win by 16 seconds over Williard, with Todd Primerano coming in 3rd. Jeff Hill making only his 3rd start of the season finished a solid 4th, with second place point man Steven Hyde rounding out the top 5 finishers.

With only 4 races remaining in the 2019 season, 6-time defending champion Gregg Rauscher now holds an 82 point advantage of his longtime rival Steven Hyde. Rauscher has been the dominant driver of 2019 scoring 12 victories and top 5 finishes in all 18 races, as well as 7 pole positions, while Hyde despite only having one victory (at Pocono) has also had a very consistent season, racking up a dozen top 5 finishes including four runner up finishes. Only 10 points further back, in 3rd, is veteran driver David Willard who is having of his best seasons to date. Although the Canadian has yet to visit victory lane in 2019, he has 11 top 5 finishes including five 2nd place efforts. 4th place belongs to Williard's Pr1mo Racing teammate Chris Primerano. "Chicago" Chris has posted 7 top 5 finishes in 2019, including a fighting 2nd place finish at Long Beach in April. Rounding out the top 5 is another P1mo racing driver, Todd Primerano. Only 13 points behind his uncle Chris Primerano, Todd has 8 top 5 finishes with a best result of 2nd at Lake Erie Speedway in May and also was the fastest qualifier at 141 Speedway. 6th through 10th in the standings respectively are "Rocket" Randy Cowen, Eddie Sedlacek, Ghostface Racer, Matt Yeager who leads the Bud Pole standings with 9 poles & Daytona winner Dusterman. So far in 2019 there have been 4 different pole winners, 6 different race winners and 14 of the 16 drivers who have competed this season have at least one top 5 finish. 9 drivers have started all 18 races.

Next up, on the weekend of October 5th and 6th the SSRA N3OCS tackles two 50 lap features to coincide with Super DIRT Week. On October 5th the series tackles the 0.558 mile Brewerton Speedway in Central Square, NY for the 4th annual running of the Sam Zuvik Memorial 50. Points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher has won all 3 previous running of the event and is a pre-race favorite, but he will face serious competition from dirt standouts like Steven Hyde, Ghostface Racer, "Downtown" David Williard and others. The following night the SSRA takes on the 0.375 mile Cayuga County Fair Speedway (aka Weedsport (NY) Speedway) for the 15th annual Cyndi Peck Memorial 50. Rauscher has had lots of success in this event as well, winning 4 of the past 5 races at CCFS and is the only active driver to have won at the track, but just like at Brewerton there are several dirt track and short track standouts that will make a victory by Rauscher tough.

The SSRA website has been updated with official results and points standings up to and including Gold Pan Speedway. Settings for both Brewerton and CCFS have been posted, with results from both events due Sunday, October 6th at midnight. A couple of other news items. First, as most of you are probably aware the SSRA N3OCS will likely (depending on interest) morph into a winter league which would start sometime in late November and end in mid-February. That season format will likely start in the November 2020, consist of around 8 races and will be considered the 2021 season. I realized if that scenario happens there would be no 2020 season, so I'm toying with the idea of running a mini-season likely consisting of the Daytona RC, DIS and one or two other races that would take place in January and February. I would like everyone's opinion on this matter and if they would run this mini season or not? I should point out I do not want to start the season much earlier than late January, because everybody needs a break after this current season is over, nor do I want to extend the season much past February, because that defeats the whole purpose of the SSRA N3OCS becoming a winter league, so having any more than a few races isn't possible for the 2020 season. Also in other news, sometime in the next few days I hope to have another installment of the all-time winningest drivers in SSRA history. That installment will profile SSRA N3OCS legends Mistycreek and Joshua Stephens. So stayed tuned for that. Thanks to all the competitors for keeping the SSRA going for all these years! Good luck at Brewerton and CCFS.
