Rauscher Wins @ Rafaela To Extend Points Lead, New Smyrna Results Due New Year's Eve!

Monday, December 25th, 2023, 6:01 pm.....

The 4th round of the 2024 SSRA N3OCS season took place on December 17th, at the 2.873 mile Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela oval, in Rafaela, Santa Fe, Argentina, with the running of the 2nd annual Argentine 100. In qualifying "Big" Gregg Rauscher earned his 66th career pole position (and his 4th pole of the season). Although Ghostface Racer and "Chicago" Chris Primerano were on the same straightaway, Rauscher (who ran the entire race without a pitstop) was never seriously challenged and beat Ghostface Racer to the line by almost 7 seconds. The victory was Rauscher's 4th straight win to open the season, while Ghostface's runner-up effort was his best finish since Homestead 1 year a go. Chris Primerano took the final spot on the podium.

Here are the top 5 finishers from the Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

The stars of the SSRA will run 35 laps around the giant 2.873 mile oval, which is located in Rafaela, Santa Fe, Argentina. Built in 1952, but reconfigured in 1970 to it's current layout, the track hosted twin 53 lap Indycar race in 1971, both of which were won by Al Unser Sr. Although that was the only major race ever held at the track, the facility still hosts local series on both the oval with chicanes added and the infield road course. In last seasons race Gregg Rauscher bested "Chicago" Chris Primerano and Ghostface Racer for the win. Those 3 drivers along with Steven Hyde and last years' polesitter "Rocket" Randy Cowen (who hopes to turn around a miserable season) are the likely contenders. Race settings have been posted on the SSRA website. Results are due this coming Sunday night, December 17th. A big thank you to all the drivers that competed in the Rush Limbaugh Memorial 100 at Stockton 99 Speedway. Good luck in Argentina!

"Winning Cyndi's race always means a lot! "Primo" made me work for it, I think lap traffic made the difference.", said Rauscher in victory lane. Rauscher Kicks Off 20th SSRA N3OCS Season With Wilkesboro Win, LVMS Dirt Track Results Due This Sunday Night!

Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, 1:16 am.....

The 20th anniversary 2024 SSRA N3OCS season kicked off on November 5th, with the running of the 150 lap Carolina Clash at the North Wilkesboro Speedway. In the SSRA's first appearance at the newly refurbished, historic NC oval since 2019, defending series champion "Big" Gregg Rauscher won his 63rd career pole position. When the green flag flew, Rauscher took the lead and with the exception of some early pressure from Eddie Sedlacek and having to avoid a large wreck on the backstretch with 17 laps to go, had relatively smooth sailing for the entire distance. At the checkers Rauscher claimed his 92nd career win by 10 seconds over Sedlacek, who scored his best finish since Daytona in 2022 (in which he also finished 2nd). Todd "Primo" Primerano demonstrated his short track prowess by rounding out the podium in 3rd.

Here are the top 5 finishers from the North Wilkesboro Speedway. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

2023 Season Top 10 Championship Points Rundown!

Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, 2:54 am.....

With the 19th anniversary 2023 SSRA N3OCS season now in the record books, here is a rundown of the drivers who finished in the top 10 in points during the 2023 SSRA N3OCS season, some info about their seasons, their prospects for 2024 and where possible some comments from the drivers on their seasons.

2023 SSRA N3OCS Champion & Bud Pole Champion- Gregg Rauscher- After winning 6 of 9 races during the 2022 season enroute to his 10th consecutive SSRA N3OCS championship, Gregg Rauscher had another strong championship winning season in 2023. Starting out with a win in the Carolina Clash at the Bowman Gray Stadium, Rauscher would go on to win a total of 5 races and claim his 11th consecutive championship by 24 points over Todd Primerano, who remained in championship contention all season. Never finishing off the podium, Rauscher scored wins at Bowman Gray Stadium, the LVMS Dirt Track, Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela (Argentina), Homestead Miami Speedway and the Daytona Beach Road Course, recorded runner-up efforts in the first New Smyrna race, the Daytona International Speedway RC and the season ending Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 at Daytona International Speedway and finished 3rd in the first 25 lapper at New Smyrna. "Big" Gregg also won 4 poles, the most any driver has won since the N3OCS' winter format started in 2020, earning him the 2023 Bud Pole Championship. The all-time career leader in wins (91), top 5's (321) and starts (355), Gregg Rauscher is arguably the favorite to win the title again 2024, although a constantly improving Todd Primerano could provide some serious competition for the Port Colborne, ON driver.

In his own words, "2023 was another good season for me. The competition keeps improving and just about anybody that shows up can contend for wins, at least on occasion. Todd really stepped up his game. Starting out the season with 4 wins was great. We were a bit off at New Smyrna, but I don't think I could have done much better at the Daytona RC or Daytona International, but we'll keep trying. Congratulations to the boys from Pr1mo Racing on their season and thanks to everybody for providing great competition. We'll be back next year to try for #12!"

Runner-Up- Todd Primerano- After finishing 5th in points the past 2 seasons, 2012 IDEA ROTY Todd "Primo" Primerano stepped it up another notch in 2023. Like in previous seasons Primerano was strong on the short tracks, winning poles at the Bowman Gray Stadium and winning the first 25 lapper at New Smyrna and finishing 2nd in the other 3 short track races, but unlike in past seasons he also finished strong on all the other tracks as well. So much so that Pr1mo became the first non-championship winning driver in SSRA history to finish in top 5 in every race in a season. In 2024 Todd Primerano will try to prove that his successes this past season weren't a fluke and if he can improve only slightly, especially on the speedways he could be the first driver not named Gregg Rauscher to win a championship in over a decade.

In His Own Words, "I felt this season was a breakout year for me. Honestly, I expect to be fast on the short tracks, but I really tried to improve my performance everywhere else too. Uncle Chris, Dad & I did a lot of testing and tinkering with set-ups, that was crucial. On the bad days I just tried to bring the car home in one piece, which can be a challenge for me sometimes. lol Ending a long winless drought was nice but to beat Rauscher it will take more than one win. My goal for '24 is to win at least 2 or 3 races and finish in the top 3 in most of the other races. If I can do that Pr1mo Racing will be on top this time next year. Thanks to my dad and Uncle Chris for being great teammates and thanks for putting on the league."

3rd Place- Chris Primerano- The championship runner-up from 2022 "Chicago" Chris Primerano was hoping to win the title this year or at least be a serious contender. Although he finished a respectable 3rd in the standings (which was his fourth career top 3 points finish) Chicago's 2023 season could be considered a disappointment. He was unable to find victory lane and finished out of the top 5 in 3 races, which make contending for championship difficult. Although on a positive note Primerano scored 4 podium finishes, including a strong 2nd place run in Argentina. It will be interesting to see if Chris Primerano will return to his 2022 form (or even improve more yet. If he can do that he will contend for the title in 2024, if not he might settle for being the #2 driver at Pr1mo Racing.

In His Own Words, "My season wasn't the best. I need to make some small improvements and be smoother. I overdrove the car a lot. Once I was out of contention I tried to help Todd more. I'm really proud of him. I put a lot of effort into Daytona and it worked out to secure third pl. Hopefully my work schedule allows me to run full time again. If so I think Pr1mo Racing will have 2 championship contenders. Congrats to Gregg and Todd on their seasons. Looking forward to next year."

4th Place- Ghostface Racer- Finishing tied for 3rd in points last season, 19 year veteran Ghostface Racer had a nearly identical season in 2023, once again scoring 5 top 5 finishes although he did slip one spot in points to 4th. Although winless since 2019, Ghost finished on the podium 3 times, including a solid runner-up result in the series' inaugural trip to Homestead Miami Speedway. However, the short tracks were his Achilles' heel, finishing no better than 5th in any of the 4 (short track) races. With his 4th place points finish, Racer extends his streak of top 10 points finishes to 19, a feat only match by multi-time champion Gregg Rauscher. If the past few seasons are any indicator he will likely contend for another top 5 in the standings again in 2024, but in order to become a championship contender he will have to improve his short track results and also end his 4 year winless streak.

In His Own Words, "This past season was okay but not great. I wasn't that far out of 3rd, but no real chance at 1st. The only race I was really happy with was Homestead. Next year hopefully I'll do all the races again, try to run better and get back to victory. It's been too long!  Congratulations Gregg, Todd, Chris, and everybody else on their seasons. Hope to see everybody back in 2024!"

5th Place- Tony Plumadore Jr.- After a breakout 2022 season in which he won his first career race and stood 2nd in the standings for much of the season (before finishing tied for 3rd), 2016 IDEAL Brake Parts ROTY Tony Plumadore Jr. was hoping to be a serious contender for the 2023 SSRA N3OCS title. Instead, he had his share of struggles and fell to 5th in points. Despite finishing in the top 5 in 3 out of the 4 short track races, T-Plum struggled in the rest of races, producing only 1 other top 5 result. His strongest showing came in the first 25 lapper at New Smyrna where he finished a fighting 3rd, one of only 2 podium finishes he scored throughout the season. Over the past couple seasons Plumadore has shown he can be a frequent top 5 race finisher and contender for short track wins, but in order to move in the standings next year he will need to improve on the speedways.

In His Own Words, "I give myself a B- grade. My season wasn't terrible, there were some bright spots but I actually ran worse than the year before. I was optimistic heading into the season, but never got going well. Wasn't able to practice much and had some bad luck. Will be back next year for sure."

6th Place- Steven Hyde- 7-time championship runner-up Steven Hyde was hoping to rebound from a disappointing 2022 season, in which he was plagued by injuries and struggled to a 6th place points finish. Instead the Camillus, NY campaigner once again finished 6th in the standings and only scored 3 top 5 finishes. Hyde's roller coaster season included a start and park in the season opener at Bowman Gray Stadium and back of the pack finishes in both New Smyrna races, but also included a pole at Homestead and a very strong 2nd place showing on the Daytona Beach Road Course. For 2024, if Steven Hyde hopes to return to his championship contender status of years past, he will need to once regularly finish in the top 5, especially on the short tracks. If he is unable to do this, the upcoming season could produce another middle of the top 10 championship result.

In His Own Words, "Not much good to say about this season for me. Finishing 6th in points after starting the season with a start and park I guess is an accomplishment. Other than a second place at the beach the season was ho-hum boring. I hope to be back for next season but seat time has been very limited the last few seasons so we’ll see how it goes later this year. Thanks Gregg for keeping the league alive and enjoy your summer and 1:1 racing season."

7th Place- Eddie Sedlacek- A top 10 points finisher and race winner in the SSRA N3OCS' inaugural season back in 2005, Eddie Sedlacek improved slightly in 2023 from his 8th place points finish the past 2 seasons. Starting the season off on a high note with a 4th place effort at Bowman Gray Stadium, "Fast Eddie"produced mostly 8th and 9th place finishes over the next 7 races before ending the season with a solid 5th place in the season finale at Daytona, a result which earned him a tie for 7th in the final standings. Over the years Eddie Sedlacek, has on occasion shown the speed necessary to win races, but often rushing to run races and being short of practice time continues to hurt his chances at being a regular top 5 race finisher and top 5 points finisher. It remains to be seen if 2024 will be more of the same, although the potential is there to move up higher in the standings and with some luck even end the longest winless streak in the SSRA.

7th Place- Dusterman- A perennial underdog, 2014 IDEAL Brake Parts ROTY Dusterman finished 7th in the final points standings duplicating his 2022 season result.  Going into the season ending Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 at Daytona International Speedway, Dusterman endured a tough season, finishing 8th or worse in all but one race (he finished 6th in the 2nd 25 lapper at New Smyrna). But Daytona turned out to be dramatically different for him. Qualifying 5th, Dusterman drafted his way to the lead early on and never looked back besting defending race winner "Big" Gregg Rauscher by nearly 8 seconds at the checkers to earn his 2nd career win and first since 2019. That double points win, along with the 20 perfect attendance bonus points moved Dusterman up 4 spots into a tie for 7th in the final standings, his 9th straight top 10 points finish. If Dusterman hopes to be a top 5 championship finisher (like he was in 2020) or even move up in the standings he needs to get additional practice time to improve his race pace. If not 2024 will likely be another year of struggles outside of Daytona and possibly a couple of short track events.

In His Own Words, "I have been trying to push myself to be able to compete with the rest of you guys. I had the speed at Homestead, but couldn't get the gas mileage. I look forward to next year to try and get some podium finishes.

9th Place- Randy Cowen- Finishing 9th for the second consecutive year the SSRA's elder statesman "Rocket" Randy Cowen had another tough season in 2023. Other than an impressive pole winning run in qualifying for the inaugural Argentine 100, the Rocket's season had no other bright spots. In the season's 9 races Cowen had 3 dnf's and his best result was a trio of 7th place runs. For the second straight year he was the only full-time competitor that didn't score at least one top 5 finish. The good news is that in 2024 there is really only way to go for Randy Cowen to go. If he can devote more time to running the races, he has more than enough speed to contend for wins on the big tracks and top 5 finishes at most other races, if not it will be another season of disappointing results for the Golden State racer.

In His Own Words, "Thanks to everyone who participates in SSRA and many thanks to the commissioner, Big Gregg Rauscher, for everything he does. Looking forward to next year"

10th Place- Jeff Primerano- After finishing 11th in points in 2022, the 3rd driver for Pr1mo Racing once again ran 5 races this year and wound up 9th in the final standings, which is his 4th career top 10 points finish in an SSRA career that dates back to 2009. Although plagued by 3 finishes of 8th or worse, the father of championship runner-up Todd Primerano, scored a podium finish (3rd) in the Limbaugh Memorial race at Homestead and also finished 5th at the Daytona RC. Although often times an r&d driver for his team and racing for fun, Jeff Primerano has visited victory lane in the past and if he runs a similar schedule next year don't be surprised to see him score more top 5's and with some luck contend for wins. Depending how many full-time drivers there are, Jeff could also score another top 10 points finish.

In His Own Words, "This year was a bit different for me. Early on I ran good at Miami then the biggest thing was trying to help my kid out. Same with Chris. He ended up doing a great job. Hoping he can move up one spot next year. As a family we are having lots of fun. The #73 CASE Construction Equipment/ BP Lubricants team will be back again next season. Not sure for how many races though. Thank you for running the SSRA."

The Rest of the Field- 11th place "The Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager and 12th place Jeff Hill both had very similar seasons, each running 2 races, winning one of those races and finishing in the top 5 in the other. 2020 championship runner-up Yeager qualified on pole (the 64th pole of his career!), then won his 7th straight race at the Daytona RC and backed that up with a 4th place finish in the next race at Daytona Beach. While Hill ran the New Years day twin 25 lap races at New Smyrna, finishing 4th in the first race, then ending an 8 year winless streak when he picked up career win #2 in the second 25 lap race.

Overall in 2023 there were 5 different pole winners, 5 different race winners and 11 of the 12 drivers who competed in 2023 had at least one top 5 finish. 9 drivers have started all 9 races held during the SSRA N3OCS' 19th season.

This write-up puts an official wrap on the 2023 season. Congratulations and thank you to all 12 drivers that competed throughout the course of the season. In the next couple weeks, I hope to update the SSRA N3OCS website's all-time career stats page and also post the 2024 schedule, which kicks off this November (2023). So be on the look out for that. In closing I want to thank everybody for their support of the SSRA N3OCS (and N3 in general) the past 19 years. Have a great off-season! See everybody at the track in November, as we kick off the SSRA N3OCS' 20th anniversary season!

Thanks again & God Bless,

Gregg :-)

2024 SSRA N3OCS Season Set To Kick Off At North Wilkesboro, Results Due Sunday, November 5th!

Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, 1:53 am.....

After a nearly 9 month off-season, the SSRA N3OCS is back for league's 20th anniversary season! The 2024 SSRA N3OCS season gets underway November 5th, with the running of the 150 lap Carolina Clash at the North Wilkesboro Speedway. Although this is the first SSRA N3OCS race at the historic Wilkes County, NC oval since 2019 the Carolina Clash will mark the SSRA N3OCS' 12th visit to 0.625 mile oval. SSRA legend Joshua Stephens is the all-time SSRA win leader at the track with 3 victories, although "Big" Gregg Rauscher (who has won the 2 most recent races at the track) is the only active driver to visit victory lane at North Wilkesboro.

Race settings for the Carolina Clash from the North Wilkesboro Speedway, have been posted on the SSRA website. Calendar files for the 2024 season can be found in on the SSRA website's N3 utilities page. Results are due this coming Sunday night, November 5th at midnight.

I want to apologize for the lack of updates during the off-season. I have been extremely busy during the summer and early fall and other than uploading some 1970 NL cars a few months back and posting updates to 2023 NASCAR Cup season's biglogo set every few weeks, I really haven't been able to devote anytime to the SSRA website or even anything sim or computer related, other than mundane tasks like going through emails and paying bills. Rest assured that like in previous seasons, the races will be scored on a regular, punctual basis and the website will be updated accordingly. Good luck in the 2024 season opener and thank you for competing in the SSRA N3OCS.

20th Anniversary Season Schedule Released & Other News!

Monday, March 27th, 2023, 2:14 am.....

The 9 race 2024 SSRA N3OCS schedule has been released and posted to the SSRA website. The 20th annual SSRA N3OCS season kicks-off on November 5th, 2023 with the running of the Carolina Clash, which now takes place at the newly reopened North Wilkesboro Speedway. The double points paying 150 lap race is the series' first trip to the historic 0.625 mile oval since the 2019 season finale. On November 19th the only dirt race of the season takes place at the Dirt Track at LVMS, which will host a 50 lap race for the 4th straight year. However, new for 2024, the event will be known as the Cyndi Peck Memorial 50, bringing back the memorial race that was run for many seasons at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway. Then after being off the schedule for a season, the SSRA N3OCS will make it's 11th visit to the Stockton 99 Speedway on December 3rd, when the 1/4 mile bullring will host the Rush Limbaugh Memorial 100. Stockton will be the 3rd track to host the Limbaugh memorial race, joining the California Speedway during the 2022 season and Homestead Miami Speedway last season. The northern California bullring is a particularly appropriate venue to host the event, as the KFBK radio station Rush worked at from 1984 to 1988 is only an hour drive from the track. For the 4th race of the season, the series will once again return to South America, as the giant 2.873 mile oval at Autódromo Ciudad de Rafaela in Argentina will host the 2nd annual Argentine 100.

The 5 race "Florida Swing" that makes up the rest of the schedule will look much like previous seasons. On New Year's Eve, New Smyrna Speedway will host the Winter Heat twin 25 lap features for the 4th straight year, then 2 weeks later Daytona International Speedway's 3.562 mile, 16 turn infield road course will host the Rolex 24 at Daytona, marking the SSRA's 20th appearance at the track. The second to last race of the season will take place at the Daytona Beach Road Course. The stars of the SSRA N3OCS will tackle the treacherous 4.22 oval (which utilizes Highway A1A's pavement as it's front stretch and the sands of Daytona Beach as the rest of the track) for the 11th time. The season finale, which will pay double points, will once again take place at the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway, with the 20th annual running of the Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 on February 11th.

Hopefully everyone likes the new schedule. As in previous years I try to change things around enough to keep the season interesting, but at the same time provide some continuity in terms of venues. I also feel that a 9 race schedule seems to be working. There are enough races that luck usually won't play a huge part in championship but at the same time not so many races that the season drags on.

In other news I have also made several updates and uploaded several new files to the SSRA website, including updating all-time career stats page to include stats from last season and making the links page more current, which included adding some site links. Files added include calendar files for the upcoming SSRA season, 65 driver pics for use with the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series cars that were released by Dusterman a few months back and a download that so far includes biglogo.tga's for the first 8 events of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. All these files can be found on the N3 utilities page. Also, I have uploaded the version of North Wilkesboro which will be hosting the season opening Carolina Clash to the N3 tracks page. In the coming weeks I also hope to upload more 2023 Cup Series race logos as the season progresses and hopefully a few more NL cars from the 1970 Grand National season that aren't available elsewhere. So keep checking the SSRA website for those new files. Also, if anybody needs any N3 or NL files hosted, just let me know.

In closing I want to thank everybody that competed in the SSRA N3OCS during the 2023 season, as well as everybody that has provided N3 content that makes running the league possible. As I am very busy during the summer months, I will not be posting many news updates during the off-season, but I will still try to touch base at least once or twice during the off-season just to reassure everybody that the 2024 season will take place (which it definitely it will!) Regardless if you have any questions or need any help with anything SSRA or even N3 or NL related in general please email me at ssra_racing@live.com. Enjoy the off-season and see everybody at North Wilkesboro on November 5th!

Dusterman Dominates Daytona, Rauscher Finishes 2nd To Earn 11th Championship!

Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, 11:45 pm.....

On February 12th, the 2023 SSRA N3OCS season concluded at Daytona International Speedway with the 19th annual running of the running of the Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150. "Big" Gregg Rauscher won his 4th pole of the season, which earned him the season long Bud Pole championship over Todd Primerano, Steven Hyde, Randy Cowen and Matt Yeager who each had one pole. Rauscher took the lead from the green flag, until 5th place qualifier Dusterman drafted his way to the front early on. Other than during late race pit stops the driver of the #69 Dodge never gave up the lead and cruised to his first win in 4 years (his last and only other career win came in 2019 also at Daytona) by almost 8 seconds over Rauscher who ran out of fuel coming into the tri-oval on the last lap. The runner-up result was good enough to earn the Port Colborne, ON driver the 2023 SSRA N3OCS Championship. 10 seconds further back Pr1mo Racing teammates "Chicago" Chris Primerano and Todd "Primo" Primerano drafted across the line in 3rd and 4th place respectively. That effort earned Todd 2nd place and Chris 3rd in the final points standings. "Fast" Eddie Sedlacek book-ended his  2023 campaign with top 5 finishes after a solid 5th place finish.

Here are the top 5 finishers from the Daytona International Speedway. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 @ Daytona International Speedway:
Pole: Gregg Rauscher
1. Dusterman
2. Gregg Rauscher
3. Chris Primerano
4. Todd Primerano
5. Eddie Sedlacek

With his 2nd place in the Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150 and a total of 5 wins in the 9 races held, Gregg Rauscher won his 11th SSRA N3OCS title by 24 points over Todd Primerano. Primerano who scored his best ever points finish, was the victor in the first 25 lap lapper at New Smyrna and was the only driver other than Rauscher to finish in the top 5 in all 9 races. 3rd place (42 points out of the lead) went to Chris Primerano, who scored 6 top 5 finishes with a best result of 2nd in Argentina. Finishing 10 points further back in 4th is Ghostface Racer who finished in the top 5 on 5 occasions, highlighted by a 2nd place in the series' inaugural visit to the Homestead Mimi Speedway. Amazingly 2023 marks the 19th consecutive season the Ohio driver has finished in the top 10 in points, dating back to the SSRA N3OCS' first season. Rounding out the top 5 in the standings, only 4 points out of 4th is Tony Plumadore Jr. Although "T-Plum" said he is disappointed with his 2023 campaign (after finishing a fighting 3rd last year), the 2016 IDEAL ROTY still had a respectable season, scoring 4 top 5's including a pair of 3rd's.

I want to take this time to thank all 12 drivers that competed during 2023 season, especially the 9 full-time competitors. I know finding the time to run the races isn't easy and I truly appreciate everyone's dedication and enthusiasm that helped make the 19th anniversary season of the SSRA N3OCS a success. In the next couple of weeks I hope to do the annual top 10 points write-up, so be on the look out for that. Please email me comments ASAP on your season and your plans for 2024 so I can include that in the write-up. I also want to officially announce that the league will be back for the 20th season this coming November. The 2024 schedule will be released sometime in March, but I can say that there will once again be 9 races and most likely 2 venue changes. Also, by the end of March I hope to have the SSRA website completely updated for the 2024 season, including the aforementioned schedule, the career stats page, calendar files uploaded etc., so be on the look out for that. Enjoy the off-season!

Thanks again & God Bless,

Gregg :-)

Rauscher Wins 8th Straight Race At Daytona Beach, Daytona Int'l Speedway Results Due Sunday, February 12th!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, 1:42 am.....

On January 30th, the SSRA N3OCS tackled the 4.22 mile Daytona Beach Road Course oval with the 10th annual running of the Daytona Beach 100.  Points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher won his 3rd pole of the season and parlayed that into his 8th straight win on the Beach. 7-time championship runner-up Steven Hyde who has had an up and down 2023 campaign, finished a season's best 2nd place, 6 seconds back. Ghostface Racer, who always runs well on the sands of Daytona Beach, finished a solid 3rd.

Here are the top 5 finishers from the Daytona Beach RC. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

Daytona Beach 100 @ Daytona Beach Road Course:
Pole: Gregg Rauscher
1. Gregg Rauscher
2. Steven Hyde
3. Ghostface Racer
4. Matt Yeager
5. Todd Primerano

With only 1 race remaining in the 2023 season, two drivers will battle it out at Daytona for the 2023 SSRA N3OCS championship. 10-time champion "Big" Gregg Rauscher has an 18 point lead over Todd "Primo" Primerano, who is having a career season. The odds are in Rauscher's favor to win his 11th title, as all Rauscher has to do is finish 7th in the season finale (assuming 10 drivers enter the race),even if Primerano were to win the pole and the race. Both drivers have finished in the top 5 in all 8 races held so far in 2023, with Rauscher scoring 5 wins and Primerano picking up the "w" in the first 25 lapper at New Smyrna. Although out of contention for the title there are 3 drivers separated by only 2 points who are battling it out for 3rd and that with a healthy dose of luck could claim 2nd in the championship. Those drivers are 3rd place "Chicago" Chris Primerano (who is Todd Primerano's uncle) and Tony Plumadore Jr. and Ghostface Racer who are tied for 4th.

Here are the top 10 in points. Once again check out the SSRA website for more detailed points standings. * represents a race win.

1. Gregg Rauscher 94*****
2. Todd Primerano 76*
3. Chris Primerano 56
4. Tony Plumadore Jr. 54
4. Ghostface Racer 54
6. Steven Hyde 40
7. Eddie Sedlacek 30
8. Jeff Primerano 22
9. Randy Cowen 21
9.  Matt Yeager 21*

The 2023 SSRA N3OCS season finale takes place at the 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway tri-oval. Championship leader Gregg Rauscher will attempt to win his 11th straight championship, but he will also attempt to defend his win in last year's Neil Bonnett/ Dale Earnhardt Memorial 150. Although championship contender Todd Primerano has never won on a superspeedway, he has been performing well as of late on the big tracks and needs a win or at least a very strong showing to spoil Rauscher's championship party. Other contenders include former Daytona winners Randy Cowen (who has 5 wins at Daytona!), Dusterman and Ghostface Racer, as well as 3 drivers who have ran well at Daytona over the years, but have yet to visit victory lane at the "World Center of Racing", "Chicago"  Chris Primerano, Steven Hyde and Eddie Sedlacek. Race settings have been posted on the SSRA website. Results from Daytona are due this coming Sunday night, February 12th. Thanks to everyone that competed throughout the season and good luck at Daytona International Speedway.

Yeager Wins For 7th Straight Time At Daytona RC, Daytona Beach Results Due Sunday, January 29th!

Monday, January 23rd, 2023, 2:14 am.....

On January 15th, the SSRA N3OCS made it's 19th appearance at the 12 turn, 3.562 mile Daytona International Speedway Road Course with the running of the Rolex 24 @ Daytona. "The Qualifying Machine" Matt Yeager making his first start of the season, lived up to his name by winning the 64th pole of his career in time in qualifying. In the 24 lap race Yeager was the fastest car most laps, although points leader "Big" Gregg Rauscher stayed in contention until he overshot his pit during late race pit stops. After that Yeager was never seriously challenged and at the checkers won his 7th straight race at the Daytona RC (and 9th overall) besting Rauscher to the line by 13.5 seconds. "Chicago" Chris Primerano took the final spot on the podium.

Here are the top 5 finishers from the Daytona RC. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

Rolex 24 @ Daytona at Daytona International Speedway Road Course:
Pole: Matt Yeager
1. Matt Yeager
2. Gregg Rauscher
3. Chris Primerano
4. Todd Primerano
5. Jeff Primerano

With his runner-up finish at the Daytona RC, "Big" Gregg Rauscher slightly extended his points lead over New Smyrna Race 1 winner Todd "Primo" Primerano to 12 markers. Both drivers have yet to finish out of the top 5, although Rauscher has 4 wins to Primerano's 1. With a solid 3rd finish at the Daytona RC "Chicago" Chris Primerano moves up to 3rd in the standings, 31 points out of the lead. After a disappointing 7th place finish on the road course Tony Plumadore Jr. dropped one spot to 4th (although he is only 3 points out of 3rd), while Ghostface Racer, who has previously finished as high as 3rd in the championship standings, maintains 5th only 2 points back of Plumadore. With only 2 races remaining in the 2023 SSRA N3OCS season Gregg Rauscher and Todd Primerano are the likely drivers that will fight it out for the title, although 3rd place Chris Primerano, 4th place Tony Plumadore Jr. and 5th place Ghostface Racer still have a mathematical chance.

Here are the top 10 in points. Once again check out the SSRA website for more detailed points standings. * represents a race win.

1. Gregg Rauscher 81****
2. Todd Primerano 69*
3. Chris Primerano 50

7. Eddie Sedlacek 27
8. Randy Cowen 20
9. Jeff Hill 18*
9. Dusterman 18
9. Jeff Primerano 18

Round 8 of the 2023 SSRA N3OCS championship takes place at the 4.22 mile long sand and paved oval known as the Daytona Beach Road Course. Championship leader Gregg Rauscher will look to make it 8 wins in a row on the "Beach" while Matt Yeager (if he competes), Chris Primerano, Steven Hyde (who is hoping to score his first victory of season) and others will provide some serious competition for the 10-time SSRA N3OCS champ. Race settings have been posted on the SSRA website. Results from Daytona Beach are due this coming Sunday night, January 29th. Good luck at Daytona Beach and thank you for racing in the SSRA N3OCS!

Todd Primerano & Jeff Hill Win 25 Lappers @ New Smyrna, Daytona Road Course Results Due Sunday, January 15th!

Sunday, January 15th, 2023, 11:39 pm.....

For the first time in the league's 19 year history, the SSRA N3OCS staged a race on New Years Day, when New Smyrna Speedway hosted twin 25 lap Features. In qualifying for the first 25 lap race "Big" Gregg Rauscher won his 2nd pole position of the season. But in the race championship contender Todd "Primo" Primerano passed Rauscher in the closing laps and went on to score the win by 3/4 of a second (over Rauscher). The victory was the 3rd of Primerano's career and his first win since September, 2018 at Gold Pan Speedway. The winner of last year's 2nd 25 lap feature at New Smyrna, Tony Plumadore Jr. finished 3rd.

For the second 25 lap feature there were no time trials held and all drivers would have to start scratch in their individual races. The top 3 finishers from race 1, as well as Jeff Hill (making his first appearance of the season) battled for the lead early on. As the race wound down Hill asserted himself up front as the other contenders faded back with handling issues. At the checkers Jeff Hill scored his 2nd career win by 1.5 seconds over Todd Primerano, with points leader Gregg Rauscher crossing the line in 3rd. Hill dedicated the victory (his first win since Midvale Speedway in May of 2015) to Ontario short track legend Bill Zardo Sr. who recently passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack.

Here are the top 5 finishers from both races at New Smyrna. Be sure to check out the SSRA website for complete results.

With the 2023 SSRA N3OCS season now at the 2/3 mark, the field has been narrowed down to 2 likely championship contenders, 10-time defending series champion Gregg Rauscher and Todd Primerano, who is having a career season and now sits only 10 points back. Rauscher has won 4 races and has yet to finish off the podium so far this season, while Primerano won the first 25 lapper at New Smyrna and has 3 runner-ups and no finishes worse than 4th. Although nearly 30 points out of the lead, the battle for 3rd place is a tight one, as 3rd place Tony Plumadore Jr., 4th place "Chicago" Chris Primerano and 5th place Ghostface Racer are separated by only 3 points. All 3 of those drivers have 4 top 5 finishes each but have yet to visit victory lane so far this season (Plumadore's best result is a pair of 3rd places, while Chris Primerano and Ghostface Racer each have a 2nd place finish.

Round 7 of the 2022 SSRA N3OCS championship takes place at the 12 turn, 3.562 mile Daytona International Speedway Road Course. Matt Yeager has won the last 6 races at the Daytona Road Course and between him and Gregg Rauscher they have won the last 14 races at the track. Race settings have been posted on the SSRA website. Results from the Daytona RC are due this coming Sunday night, January 15th. Thanks to all the drivers that helped make the New Smyrna event a success and good luck at the Daytona RC.
